SwitchSite — an offline-first tablet app for the crews who move railcars inside industrial plants: digital switch lists, live track-and-spot inventory, move records with photo evidence, shift handoffs, and a dwell/demurrage evidence trail. Works fully offline; syncs when signal returns.
STATUS: customer discovery — we're interviewing the superintendents, plant logistics managers, and contractors who run this work before we build further.Offline-first software for in-plant rail switching crews
Switch lists, live car inventory, and demurrage evidence that survives disputes — for rail sites that still run on paper, radios, and whiteboards.

At most industrial rail sites, the authoritative record of where every railcar sits is a whiteboard, a radio call, or a spreadsheet nobody fully trusts. When connectivity dies inside a steel-and-concrete plant, corporate systems die with it — and when a demurrage invoice arrives, the evidence that would dispute it was never captured. The crews doing the work deserve tools built for the yard, not for headquarters.
CrossingGuard — a monitor-only telemetry device for grade-crossing warning systems on short-line and industrial railroads: battery health, lamp current, gate position, activation events, with printable inspection-support records. Designed without command outputs and intentionally separated from vital crossing-control functions; installed only by the railroad's own signal maintainer.
STATUS: bench prototype — winter field trial planned. One principle runs through both products: evidence-grade records — timestamped, attributable, tamper-evident — with a human confirming anything customer-facing. We document operations; we never claim to control or certify them.
Founded by a data engineer who builds record systems that hold up when money is disputed, and a former Norfolk Southern product lead. San Francisco Bay Area.
If you run in-plant rail switching or a short-line railroad, we'd genuinely value fifteen minutes — we're building this from ground-truth conversations, not assumptions. Write us: founder@switchsite.co
